Well the Amazon evaluation period has come to close. The ethics of Amazon leave a lot to be desired. It is not the place for artists. After several months of showing work on Amazon not any hits whatsoever. Hard to tell if there might even be one or if it’s just me posting works there.

The management claims you have to know how to place tags to pull your work to the top, and that the big Art reproduction houses have learned how to use the tags for maximum exposure. I say Hogwash, these big players are probably paying more than the $40 I paid per month as a pro merchant, under the table and have a way of getting featured listings. As if that didn’t beat all, Amazon then instituted a policy of having to have a UPC code for each new piece of art I wanted to sell! Upon further examination there that’s a $700 proposition to G1 that authorizes and gives the UPC’s for a maximum of I believe 10. If you need more the price escalates. Definitely not for the creative artist.

An artist just needs to sign or number their work for it to be unique, clearly big business doesn’t even want competition from artists, they prefer to use Amazon to repackage and UPC en masse the art from dead artist or well known ones so they can crank them out like cookies.

Well yet another example of how big business is taking away the choices, newness and variety for consumers and just shoveling what they believe will bring them in the profits.
