Most people live or travel around a planned block styled city in an urban or suburban town but never would think the Blockchain might have anything to do with their block.
Now a small US suburban town, Greenville, NC is the first city in the world to have commissioned a public work of art that is on the blockchain. It is unfortunate that because of many Black artists being marginalized that many will not realize the historic significance of this work upon installation.
To add to the importance of this work in publicly viewed Crypto Art a small NFC tag will be embedded under the work. Also as one of Romero’s concepts which will allow public viewers to access all the works data on the blockchain simply by wanding a standard cellphone over the tag and revealing the works complete records on the blockchain. [here is a sample of what it will show ‘Social Assembly’]
The work ‘Social Assembly’ is by the Avante-garde artist ‘Romero’. This long ardous process began in the summer of 2019, and inspite of a late fall 2019 approval had a process that had to overcome many adjustments in the time table due to the pandemic.
The work has not been installed yet as of the time of this writing, but we invite you to take a look behind the scenes at the preparation and collaboration between Romero and the producer of the work FastSigns of Greenville, NC.
Because of the nature of transcribing the work a true collaboration was formed between the artist Romero and Master Printer of Fast Signs, Wes Lane. Follow along in pictures and video while we bring you behind the scenes in the prep of ‘Social Assembly’
