We live in age that has technological advances happening at a very rapid pace, and the artists in the music industry think they are up to date. On the other hand the fans of the music are quite snug and secure in the same boat. YouTube has been the De-facto standard for so long nothing else matters. Or does it?

Fans are still listening to internet radio as if it was still 1999. Then they check their email on their smart phones and watch the latest video from Lil Wayne. So what of the high quality HD internet streaming music video shows like our CPirateNetwork? We are not the only ones going through this difficult fight for eyeballs to pay attention to our content. The streaming tech show sector faces the same issues. It is one of “content overkill”. Viewers are so inundated with video content, commercials and ads from so many different sources, that channel surfing has become the norm and way of life.

What can be done to combat this phenomena is to consolidate meaningful and valuable niche content to a particular network. This is the area that CPirateNetwork is exploring. The problem with this technique is that many artists and techies do not like to collaborate. They feel their content is all important, even if they are number #5 on the totem pole, and fail to realize how badly they are chewing apart and fragmenting the market space.

To combat this we have come out with some very advance tools. One of them being the “Off The Wall“, where artists videos are embedded in a unique gallery type scrollable wall, that still maintains YouTube video counts as well as allowing for full screen and continuous video play.

The other being our flagship service that plays 24/7 in rotation and HD, but allows us to stream to BYOD devices when the show airs live. Currently we have a show broadcasting music in the Friday 7-9PM EDT slot, news clips some of which we author ourselves and a newly added tech segment, Android Journal.

The purpose of all of this diversity is to broaden the scope of the viewers the artists bring in and allow them to engage with their fans and followers on a variety of topics. The jury is still out on our attempts as most artists seem to want to keep their viewers as close to them as possible with as little interaction as possible. Go figure?
